Emil and I had dreamed about owning an RV long before Efren came into our lives, but having a son made the idea feel less like a dream and more like a necessity. The notion quickly took center stage. During Emil's most recent shoot for a UK television show, he crossed paths with an inspiring man who had purchased 25 acres in Utah and built an extraordinary property from natural and salvaged materials. Among the eclectic structures was a converted school bus, a “skoolie,” that served as living quarters for the volunteers helping him build. Seeing that bus reignited our road trip dream, and we dove headfirst into daily Facebook Marketplace searches for skoolies we could transform.
